In the summer of 2024, Koizumi Ryuji, Japan's Foreign Minister, stated that Japan needs to lift the restrictions on Foreign Residency (Not Immigration) to help spark the stagnant Japanese Economy.
Japan is looking for roughly 45,000,000 people to relocate there into rural communities in order to grow populations outside of large metropolitan areas such as Tokyo/Kanto and Osaka/Kansai.
Many programs both Government and Non Government, are available for foreigners looking to integrate into these communities. As well Japan is looking for couples who want to have children or families with children to help achieving the country's goal, so if that is your situation it will be easier to apply for these programs.
